Dr. Chidi Okafor โ PhD Zoology, University of Lagos / Wildlife Conservation Society
Dr. Chidi Okafor is a wildlife biologist and zoologist specialising in African megafauna ecology, predator-prey dynamics, and the conservation biology of endangered vertebrates. He completed his PhD at the University of Lagos in partnership with the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) in 2011, where his research focused on lion and elephant population dynamics in West and Central Africa. Dr. Okafor has conducted fieldwork in Nigeria, Cameroon, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Kenya, working with national parks authorities, community conservation programmes, and international conservation NGOs. He has collaborated with the African Wildlife Foundation (AWF), WWF Africa, and the IUCN Species Survival Commission's Cat Specialist Group and African Elephant Specialist Group. His published research spans predator ecology, wildlife corridor design, and the human-wildlife conflict interface. Fauna Report was founded in 2023 to deliver authoritative wildlife science journalism.
